This logo is made up of two identical ambigrams, meaning it can be read the same from multiple viewpoints. This technique makes the logo look like a design at first glance. With a closer eye it is easy to make out the words “John Mayer”. The flowing lines attached to some of the letters, such as the J and the H, reminds me of guitar strings which helps to convey the message that John Mayer is a musician. The ambigramic qualities of this logo caught my attention immediately.
This is from a cool little article from graphic designer Andrew Keir on how he developed his own personal logo. I love how he actually shows us step-by-step the creative process he went through to get to his end product, which I think looks pretty sharp. The article can be found here.
I found the WWF logo to be very inspirational. The contrast of black and white causes the image to pop out. I found the emphasis on what is not included in the logo, rather than what is, to be its most interesting aspect. The panda is made of a collaboration of basic shapes, displayed in black. The chunks of white add an essence of simplicity and organization to the image. The typography complements the image nicely. Overall, this logo effectively illustrates the message and cause of the WWF.
http://creativebits.org/cool_business_card_designs has some really creative businesses cards. I really like how the first one uses the metaphor of ” blank” on the name tag to represent his last name. The second is for an acupuncturist and the card has little holes. I really like the idea of using a visual metaphor on a business card. A well designed card is good, but a well designed card that makes you think will have more resonance with an employer.

I just randomly found this logo. The company is named “Zagora”. It’s a little hard to read, and even now I still wonder how the first letter looks like a “z”. But anyway, the logo is quite hug-able. I like the shape and the colors. Warm, light, and cute. The logo makes fell the company youthful and vigorous as well. Good impression.
BTW, the URL link is the tutorial about how to make this logo in illustrator. Hope can help.
This company has done some really beautiful design for logos. I especially like their tips for “What a logo is.” I love how they connect letters without just slamming them next to each other. The logo below for a wine company is a great representation of the company. The color, type, and the slant of letters all reflect what the company is about.
As I am looking around the internet for ideas for our next project, I came across this website where it has all of these tutorials on how to make cool text in illustrator. Hope this helps you guys too and maybe even get ideas for a cool way to represent your name!

This is a cool article that deals a lot with what we discussed in class: breaking down objects into geometric shapes in order to create a logo. From lines to simple shapes, it shares a lot of tips on how to use the right design elements to get your message across. Click here for the article.
Myspace recently redesigned their logo, and it’s certainly an interesting concept. I don’t really like the way the logo looks, but when it’s personalized, it’s far more visually appealing, and more unusual looking. This logo definitely adheres to the purpose of Myspace- personalizing your own area of the Internet, but I’m not sure if the logo’s cool concept can make up for its odd appearance.
Here’s the link to the full article, which has images of personalized logos:
