When I was looking online at magazine spreads in order to generate some ideas, I came across this website: http://bestdesignoptions.com/?p=4076. The website contains 20 different examples of creative magazine spreads. All of the examples I think are extremely well-done and effective. Hope this helps !!!!!!
When searching magazine covers and spreads, I came across this Rollingstone magazine cover of President Barack Obama. I thought the magazine cover was extremely effective and unique because unlike the majority of covers which are filled with text and headlines for various articles, this cover is able to capture the attention of potential readers solely due to the image. The image itself is so powerful that it is placed over the word-mark of “RollingStone”.
I was attracted to this video because it shows the importance of thinking before the creative process begins within any graphic process. I hope this helps anyone who sees this!watch?v=hRKmD7w84Kg
I recently came across this Chanel poster advertising Chanel No. 5 perfume. When examining the poster, I couldn’t help but notice how simple the design was and how it effectively conveyed both the name of the company and the product that Chanel had targeted to advertise. I also liked how the poster contained two contrasting colors as well!
I found this website when I was looking around online to find help with InDesign:

It’s just 6 tips about the program that can be really helpful. Some of the tips are for shortcuts, while others are for actual tools, like kerning for example. I liked this site because it put things as simply as possible, almost to the point of condescension, which is kind of what I need when it comes to graphics. There were also pictures of the tool bars with various things highlighted so that readers could know exactly what each tip was referring to. Of all the tutorials and guides I’ve seen, this was the most helpful one that I’ve stumbled upon.
Confused how do go about your layout, here’s some help from a graphic designer. (Click on the photo)
If anyone is still tweaking their roughs for thursday morning, i found a website that helps a lot with planning, layout, and other things involved in a poster design. As professor Harper has mentioned over and over, simplicity is key, but in creating a poster, we must grab attention within the three seconds it takes for someone to pass it. I think our image is key. It needs to be prominent and interesting. Information is obviously important, but has to come second to design when it comes to posters because that is what the viewer will notice second. Once we catch an eye, the information will be read. Visual hierarchy is essential. Font, color, layout, etc all need to be considered before coming to what we may think is a perfect poster design.
