For my magazine redo, I did not have too much to fix. On the cover page, I moved around the text to make it farther away from the image and then aligned the date. For the 1st spread, I pulled the green from the image and made it the type color for the sub headlines. For the 2nd spread I did not have anything to fix. And for the third spread, I added a picture of Karl Lagerfeld to the “sidebar” part of the page and added arrows to direct it towards his obsessions. I got rid of some of the obsessions as I did not want the page to be too cluttered. I think I cleaned it up a lot and made everything neater. I hope you like it and have a nice holiday!
For my poster project I chose the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer initiative. The Council of Fashion Designers of America created this philanthropy to help raise money for Breast Cancer. Clothing such as scarves and t-shirts have been made in the past to help raise money for this cause. Two years ago Fashion Targets Breast Cancer teamed up with Nine West to start “Runway Relief”. “Runway Relief” is models wear pedometers on their shoes for the entire week of Fashion Week and for every step they take they raise money for breast cancer. For my poster, I began with really wanting to make a bra out of words and have it hanging on a hanger. However, I evolved the bra idea (being that it was not working and was a little too cliché for breast cancer) and turning it into legs and pink shoes for that Runway Relief is for walking. I took pictures of my friends’ legs and then posterized them in Photoshop. I used hot pink instead of the softer tone of pink for breast cancer because I think it was more powerful for my poster. I think this poster really works for Runway Relief. I personally do not like when things are too crazy and cluttered and I think my poster is clean, simple, yet also chic.
Barack Obama’s iconic presidential campaign poster has illuminated the power of graphic design. Obama’s campaign poster completely overshadowed any visual elements that his opponent John McCain brought into the race. When thinking about past presidential elections, I cannot remember any other presidential candidate who had a poster that became as widespread as Obama’s. While in Washington D.C. this past summer, streetcars selling political t-shirts and memorabilia were filled with merchandise that contained this image. Barack Obama successful utilized the field of graphics in order to reach out to advertise his campaign and reach out to voters.
The World Wildlife Fund is a great example of good non-profit advertising. Their work is simple, straightforward, and attention grabbing. Since part of their campaign is the protection of animals, some of their images can be quite graphic and borderline offensive. However, when an organization is trying to sell a message, rather than a product, it seems their advertising should pull on the viewer’s emotions.
This resume is definitely not something that you see everyday. However, I thought it was a creative example of how a resume doesn’t have to be boring black and white text on a page. This guy took his career and applied it to his resume which I think is cool, especially when you are in this field.
this site is incredible! it’s filled with funky architecture and furniture. here are some really cool tables. enjoy!
