\’Your Business Card is Crap\’
Though this guy is kind of crazy, he makes a point that we have been over multiple times in class: the need to differentiate your business card. His business card, which he brings up about halfway through the video, is a different shape with a die cut and a couple other embellishments, and he discusses in a pretty comical way not only how this makes his card stand out from the rest but also what this says to a potential client.
My rationale is on the letterhead. Since it’s written in a letter form to Prof. Harper, ignore some of the pronouns used there. Enjoy!

I think this business card is really cool because it’s both a business card an an entertaining craft! It’s creative because if a customer displays the plane somewhere in their home, they will see it everyday and constantly be reminded of you! While I don’t think we have the resources to make something like this, it’s the idea of originality and branding that make this business card a good example for this project.
This website offers 5 steps to making unique, effective business cards. The overall design of the card works really well for someone who is a photographer/designer/illustrator. When I look at this business card I think of someone who is outgoing and creative, yet professional. The paint splotch along with the font give off the artsy vibe without being too literal. The variety of the paint color/size makes each card unique, which I thought was a really clever, simple way of personalizing each card.
The website also talks about font selection, printing and cutting the business cards and offers some basic tips about working in Illustrator. Overall, I think this site is helpful on both the creative and technical sides of this project.
I don’t know if this is for an architect or some sort of designer, but I thought it was really interesting. The card can double as art, which makes people actually take the time to stop and look at it and play around with it.
This business card is really clever because it is for a personal trainer and instead of putting weights or workout gear on the card he made it metaphorical- showing that his services can help you stretch and be flexible! While the font is not really that legible, it is overall a really cool concept. Although we do not have the capability to do something like this with our project, this business card is a good inspiration of how we can take what we like to do and turn it into an abstract concept that translates to employers. The website that this example is from also has some other creative business cards. My other favorite is the divorce lawyer’s business card which is two halves equal to the size of one standard business card- one each of the people getting divorced. Another way to make your business card stand out!
