Does a website homepage have to meet a certain criteria? Stay within the lines of what is considered acceptable and boring? With our website project coming close to its end I have thought a lot about structure of a website’s main page. It should catch the reader’s attention, look organized and be easy to travel through. Can those things be accomplished through a boring page? This page is different. It allows more interaction for the person reviewing it. With billions of websites being available in cyber space, isn’t it important to keep reader’s interested? Making the site so people will come back? Be unlike any other website and unforgettable in its content? How can that be accomplished through standard grids and guidelines? Where is the line between professionalism and being boring? When is it too creative and becomes confusing?

It’s very creative, and I’ve noticed that most ad agency’s have cool, creative websites to showcase what they are all about. This one is probably my favorite. Check it out here.

They have six icons that you can download as photoshop files. It’s very useful, and it’s an added bonus that the icons are adorable.
Some of us may want to show rollovers/hovers in our website design. I’ve only done them before in image ready but Professor Harper mentioned using Adobe Fireworks so here’s a tutorial on rollover buttons/images in Adobe Fireworks (and Dreamweaver).
