I feel like now that I am taking my first graphic design class i see typography everywhere! I think it’s really cool to see a picture illustrated of text. Typography provokes feelings and mood to the design. It’s very modern–different from what we’re used to seeing.
I just posted about cool magazine layouts and I started exploring the website more and found a whole page of tutorials for different texts. On the page there is a cloud text tutorial, jumotron text tutorial, 3d text tutorials, and so much more. Its definitely worth taking a look at.
This program is awesome, and it’s free too! This video shows you how you can create your own typeface by writing out all the letters of the alphabet out on paper in your handwriting and then taking a picture of it. You can then go in and edit all of your letters and perfect them to make them appear exactly how you want them. The art of writing authentic letters is not dead! Click on this link to see it!

Some people are definitely a little crazy about typography. Stefan Sagmeister does amazing things with type; here he actually carved type onto his body (WOAH!). Crazy much? Yeah, but his website has a lot of interesting typography ideas that don’t include carving your skin. The best part is that there’s a link for students on the website where he answers questions on how to get into design and stuff, it’s great for graphic design buffs.
