Soto Ghilianie Resume Redo

My resume speaks for itself and yet it is a reflection of me. The only two colors I chose to use were hot pink and black. I used the pink because it stood out and was very girly. Using this color against the black gave my pink an edge. The color contrast also draws attention to the pink, which is the color I used for my word mark. I used a black border on the left and right because it gave my resume a backbone and structure. I decided not to do a full, all around border, because I wanted my resume to breath and have a little freedom.

I used three different fonts for my resume, each of which spoke of my personality: Freestyle, Life, and Impact. I chose Freestyle because it was free flowing and pretty. I chose life because it got down to business and gave you the meat of my resume, without distracting you. I chose impact because, that is what I wanted to do make an impact and standout.

Throughout my resume there is another consistency besides the black and pink color scheme. The “G” and the “S” throughout the entire document are in the Freestyle font. I felt this represented my creative and meticulous personality. Each “G” and “S” throughout the main titles are in Freestyle.

Overall I would say my resume reflects my personality and is visually beautiful yet professional. It is organized and straightforward with a creative twist. The field I intend to go into is Public Relations, which requires you think outside of the box, yet be professional and adaptable at the same time. My resume says, Hey I’m fun, I’m sassy, I’m creative, but I mean business.

For my redo I focused a great deal on my outlines. First I got rid of the black line on the right side of the page. Then I adjusted the spacing by drawing outlines and margins. I then took the dates on the left side of the page and made them a little lighter because there was too much black. The most important thing I did was to get rid of all the fancy S’s. I made the G in the first letter of my name Impact. I also moved the lines of actual content in, so that you could see a more distinct divide between the dates I worked and each location. Realigning the entire document made a great difference and all in all I feel it is a lot cleaner and has more room to breathe.

Margrette Robinson

Rationale- Logo Project Redo

After meeting with you and discussing my logo, I had a whole new vision of what I was going to do.  You said in class we could choose whatever profession we want and circle our logo around that.  I choose what I would eventually like to be a divorce attorney.  I looked up online what the profession title was called and the most common one used was Divorce Law so I decided to list that on my card.

Because I am Margrette the 3rd and law correlates with the 3 branches/pillars of government I stuck with the three idea, plus I rally like the look of it.  By putting my name in-between the III it was easier to understand that I am Margrette the 3rd and the main idea I was circling around.  This is the first time I have used a white background and I like the look of it, crisp like my logo.  The strong bright red accent adds flavor to it and I think the boarder accents my logo.  I am really glad I got your opinion and I am so much happier with this end result.  It did take a lot of finagling, but after working on it throughout the week and getting feedback from friends I think it over all looks great.

I choose a strong font Trajan, because it wasn’t so script and it should strength and stability, like the pillars.  Finally, I had a hard time deciding if I wanted to make a back business card.  I tried playing with it and making backs but I thought it looked to repetitive on the front and back.  Then I tried switching I colors around front to back and it looked to colorful and bold, so I thought that the back something completely different then the front. So because you recommended making a back,  I just did a few minimal changes to my logo for the back of my business card, hope you like it.

Hurricane Earl is rapidly approaching the east coast.  Due to the sporadic nature of the storm’s movement, the hurricane’s path can still not be determined.  The hurricane’s strength has increased over the course of the day causing the National Weather Service to upgrade its classification  from a 3 to a 4.  With winds of over 135 miles per hour, the hurricane is posing a great threat to inhabitants of the east coast.  Popular North Carolina vacation spot, the Outer Banks, has been evacuated.  Precautions are being implemented to minimize damage along the coast, as far north as Maine.
