Steve Prosonic Poster Project Redo

I made a few tweaks to the poster as recommended to me by Professor Harper. The yellow text in my first version was lost in the background. The line of the text didn’t follow the line of the background, and the contrast was confusing to the eye. To remedy this, I placed it within one of the green shapes and aligned it with the path. I also took away the tacky strokes on the typeface. I also fixed some of the kerning as well.

I started out playing around with my initials for my logo, but since we needed a graphic element I thought I’d do something to do with science because I’m a biology major as well as PR.
I’d like to be doing pharmaceutical, medical, or hospital PR as my job.  Both of my names start with the same letter, so that makes it easy to work with.  I decided to use a strand of DNA wrapped around a capital E because it represents my name and it very recognizable as science related.
I played around with different color combinations of the E and DNA and I wanted something that looked clean but also a little playful, so I decided on a black letter with brightly colored DNA elements.  The font looks bold and a little elegant while the DNA is a more fun contrast.
I put my logo on one side of the card because I wanted it to stand alone and stand out apart from my information.  Black text makes the colors of the DNA stand out best.  I decided to make the other side the opposite because I originally wanted a black card, but it didn’t work well with my logo.  The back of the card with just text seemed very plain, so I put the same DNA graphic along the side to tie both sides together.
With my envelope I decided not to do anything on the back to keep it simple.  On the front I just put my logo in the corner with my name and address to the right of it.  I almost used the big E as the first letter in my name for my return address, but it looked too complicated and I wanted the logo to be the same in all three places.
I tried to keep my letter as simple as possible.  I centered my logo on the top and put my whole name underneath, so you see the logo and know who it’s from right away.  I put my contact information at the bottom separated by a horizontal line so it is visible but doesn’t get overrun by any body text that’s on the paper.

Unique Business Card

I don’t know if this is for an architect or some sort of designer, but I thought it was really interesting. The card can double as art, which makes people actually take the time to stop and look at it and play around with it.
