Found this cool poster which goes to show you how a simple yet retro look could still probably work today. Overall it is a simple design that grabs your eye because of the color choices that contrast well and draw your attention to the image.
I made a few tweaks to the poster as recommended to me by Professor Harper. The yellow text in my first version was lost in the background. The line of the text didn’t follow the line of the background, and the contrast was confusing to the eye. To remedy this, I placed it within one of the green shapes and aligned it with the path. I also took away the tacky strokes on the typeface. I also fixed some of the kerning as well.

This IPad applications allows you to create posters and invitations on your IPad and IPhone 4 very easily. I thought this was a very interesting tool for graphic designers on the go. You can use photos from your IPhone or any images from your photo library and place them into the templates provided by the application. Phoster allows you to adjust colors, fonts, size and edit photos. Once you are done you can instantly share your creations via facebook, Twitter and e-mail. Though the application is still new, I thought it was an interesting new tool for quick poster designs.
After the evaluation of the first draft of my poster, I noticed changes I could make that would help make my poster more effective to viewers. I kept my graphic and title the same. I changed the font under my graphic to Helvetica. I think that Helvetica gives it a more modern and organized feel than the previous font. I also shortened the event information to two lines rather than three to make the poster less wordy. I highlighted the event, date, and location to make it stand out to viewers who want to participate. I think these changes have greatly improved my poster.
A lot of people are making them. A lot of people suck. We don’t suck, and neither do you. This tutorial requires NO drawing talent… so don’t trip folks.

I feel like now that I am taking my first graphic design class i see typography everywhere! I think it’s really cool to see a picture illustrated of text. Typography provokes feelings and mood to the design. It’s very modern–different from what we’re used to seeing.
This ad grabs your attention in an eery way. I’m not sure if it effectively sells a product, but it is very visually appealing.
