Whitney Clinkscales

Well here it is, my last graphics project (disregarding the redo’s of course). First off, I want to say it’s been real.

I decided to choose the VH1 Save The Music Foundation as my organization for my website. I am in love with music, going to minor music, and have been involved with music for as long as I remember so there was no other organization that I found better than this one to use as my inspiration for my website design.

VH1savethemusic.com has a colorful theme. It’s very interactive, and it highlights the celebrities involved with the organization. I decided to change it up and focus more on the children. A black and white color scheme makes me feel passionate for some reason. When I look at my website and it’s color scheme as well as fonts, I get a jazzy type of feel with a touch of class, which is exactly the kind of scheme I was going for.

I will admit the way I organized layers in my folders are kind of all over the place, but it makes sense to me I swear.

The VH1 Save The Music Foundation uses the slogan Music Education = Brainpower, so I stuck with that. Celebrities get together and host events and donate the funds to the foundation, which then uses the funds to educate children in music in places where budgets have been cut and there is little to no education.

I used images from the website in the gallery of images as well as Google images and adjusted them so that they would be black and white to fit my color scheme. I used a courier new font because it has a classy jazz feel, but I highlighted it with red because that was also apart of my color scheme.

My first page is my home page. I really like the image. It has a VH1 kind of feel to it, as well as a type of image that would draw you in. I stuck with the slogan and included a donate button. My footer is rather large, but I included a lot of information that the website has, but I made it into my own style. Groovy, funky, you know like music. My header is supposed to resemble piano keys, but it also has a bar effect to it, which is supposed to resemble a jail cell, hence “save the music.” I also included social media icons that stuck with my color scheme.

My second page is my about section. The header and foot are the same, but the image changes, highlighting a child with a music instrument and information about the foundation.

My third page is my get involved page.  Included ways t get involved from the website and highlighted the text in a way that it stuck with my color scheme. I really like this image as well.

My fourth page is the event page. I took images off of the event portion of the actually website and headlines that fit with each image. I centered it as well to leave no room for empty space and make the text the focal point of the page.

My fifth page is the gallery page. It has a video and photo button. I chose to do the video button and I included a video as well as a scroll over to see the other videos if it were actually interactive.

My last page is my contact page. It included a place for one to type their name, email address, place t o type their message, AND a submit button because I remember a lot of people forget that.

Overall, I really tried to use the guides. They came in handy. Office hours came in handy. Listening to a lot of music came in handy as well. I’m proud of my site, and I tried to go the next step up by being consistent and including an extra page.  I hope you enjoy.
