Check out this example of a not-for-profit Web site that works to fight poverty and AIDS/HIV in Africa. Hopefully, this can help generate ideas for your Web sites-I know it gave me some good ideas about color schemes and what links to possibly include!
Enjoy!

I thought this was a very clever/funny cover and certainly proves that less is more. The picture and the one text box says it all. Enjoy!

Check out this link for a photoshop tutorial on the eraser tools. It explains how to use the eraser, the background eraser, and the magic eraser tool for any image you open in photoshop. The background eraser can help if you are looking to make the background of the photo transparent! This might be helpful if you are placing a photo on top of another one.

Hey class,
Check out this link I’ve posted from Wired Magazine on 10.20.08, featuring some of their greatest headlines dating back to 1994. I thought this might be handy when thinking about headlines to use for our magazine projects.
Enjoy!

I found this link to be very helpful in providing effective magazine tips on ways to attract readers and maintain their interest. I figured some of this information might be helpful to keep in mind as we start to think about the magazine project.
Check these pointers out! Since we are beginning to learn about newspaper and magazine graphics, I figured this story that I found posted on the ag design blog might be helpful, especially for beginners. It relates to what we learned in class about newspaper layouts and successfully incorporating photos with headlines and text.

The Jimi Hendrix poster uses many of the same designs multiple times, giving the poster personality. The designer purposely chose to repeat the figures to create a “Jimi Hendrix, 60s effect.” Needless to say…it works!
Here’s an example of a poster that demonstrates the power of typography-the sizes and colors of the type influence the message that the designer is trying to convey. The simplicity of the design makes it a great poster!
