I started working on my magazine project and putting together my articles and spreads and I found that it was really difficult for me to think of a good catch headline. Being a magazine major, I’ve learned that headlines on the cover are one of the the aspects, a long with the graphics on the cover of course, are important to catch the readers eye. I found an article online that help you step by step think of powerful and catchy headlines. Hope this helps !

Some guy says having text that slopes every line so that the line below it starts at the same level the last one ended, would be easier to read…
like so:
I know that I am having trouble with my magazine cover. But I found a website that has the 40 best magazine covers of all time. I picked a few of them with very dominant images and very few words.
I know that writing good copy is not my strongest point, so I love how these 5 examples need hardly any words because of the strength of the image.
cheap and easy to use: istockphoto allows you to open a free account, and has a pay-as-you-go plan appropriate for our project. other sites i found: snapvillage.com, fotosearch.com, and fotolia.com are all great.
I don’t know if anyone is having problems coming up with themes and titles, but here’s a link to some of the oddest magazines on the planet, including “girls and corpses” and “miniature donkey talk”
Sports Illustrated has always been one of my favorite magazines and they have had some pretty good covers over the years. Johnny Flynn was one of the most recently featured athletes on their cover but here is a link to a site with all of their covers from the past.
Some example magazine covers/layouts. In my opinion, FLAUNT is one of the most visually appealing magazines out there. Although their text in a an article can be kind of boring, the graphical element of titles is great.
