I searched the internet for quite a while before I found this picture, which I think is incredibly visually appealing. For me, what makes this picture is the beam of sunshine shining into the dilapidated theater. I think the beam adds an ironic “light” feel to what would otherwise be a darker, more mundane picture. The natural contradiction posed in this picture is quite astonishing.

I absolutely love music. I would love to be in a band that tours the country and is successful, but I can’t play any insturments or sing. I love this picture because you can see that the crowd is excited. You can tell that this is an emotional part of the song, but I love that you can’t see the singers face. You can tell the emotion of the song by the way that the singer is reaching out to the crowd. Also, it’s in classic black and white, which only adds to the quality and emotion. Lastly, I think it’s kind of ironic that you can see a photographer in the front row, and yet this picture still shows the view from the stage.

I love the Olympics, so I looked for pictures of this year’s Olympic Ceremonies. While I think that absolutely everything about Beijing’s opening and closing ceremonies was visually stimulating, I found this picture of the massive group of drummers from the opening ceremonies pretty cool. Leading up to and throughout the Games, I heard a lot about how China really took pride in its huge population, calling its people one of its biggest strengths. I like this picture because it captures the unity and synchronization of China’s strength in numbers.

Just want to check whether it works.
my friends forward this to me on Chinese facebook. I like it because it clearly expressed the idea of “perfect pictures for an imperfect world”. As what our professor said in the class, the visual work communicate with its audience.

let me know if you can’t see the video
Being that I am from the jersey shore, I guess it should as no surprise that Bruce Springsteen is my favorite musical artist. When searching through some of his stuff, I came across this old Time Magazine cover. I find this so visually compelling because although it is only a single image, it completely captures the lively mood of many of Bruce’s early songs.
This piece of street art is pretty cool as well.
Hey, I thought this was pretty cool because of the contrast and the font type.
It took me a moment to see the “White” type, but once you see it, it’s there.
And I’m not completely sure this fits into the assignment, but I stumbled upon this video, and I think it looks really cool. I figured I’d share it:
The first link is what I found to be visually compelling. The second is something that thought was relevant because of the focus on fonts in lab.
